AVID

What is AVID?

whatisavid.png
The image is a promotional flyer for the AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) program, which provides academic instruction, tutorial support, and extracurricular activities to prepare students for college and career readiness. The flyer outlines the AVID objectives, who qualifies for the program, and what AVID is not.

The AVID elective is designed for 6th – 8th grade students who have the desire to challenge themselves and grow academically. AVID does not magically “make” students organized. Instead, it teaches practical strategies that help students become more organized, confident, and prepared. The skills they learn, like purposeful notetaking, time management, public speaking, and personal responsibility, can be used in every class.

AVID supports students as they take rigorous courses and prepare them for future Honors and pre-AP courses. Students build strong peer connections and learn how to support one another in reaching their goals.

AVID is a great fit for students with average to high test scores, including gifted learners, who are motivated and ready to stretch themselves.
